Cowboys are a different breed...
They work hard, play hard and love harder.
It's all about the ride, until the right woman
makes them fall.

Tina Montgomery is searching for her Texas Tomcat, and not just any cowboy or tomcat will do. To be successful, she knows the new menswear line at Texas Tomboy needs a cowboy with some miles in the saddle, not a paper cowboy with manicured nails. Desperate and worn out, Tina takes a weekend at a friend's ranch to regroup and is shocked to meet not only her best friend's new brother-in-law, but her Tomcat. But she quickly sees convincing the attitude-ridden cowboy to work with her won't be easy.

Dean Dixon's cheating ex-wife had taught him just how untrustworthy women were. His son was an everyday reminder of it. When his sister-in-law's friend comes sniffing his boot heels at the ranch, distracting him from his business, he knows Tina Montgomery has more on her mind than him modeling jeans and he wants no part of it. But when she throws an offer more obscene than the short skirts she wore at him, how could he turn down the one chance he had to save his failing ranch?

For fiction, the reader agrees to suspend their disbelief in the original premise of the story, then the characters act and react normally to this premise. In this book, there are simply disjointed situations loosely tied together by a purported story line. The characters do not resemble real people and their reactions aren’t typical.

Starting with the worst first, there is the scene in which the Heroine bursts into the bathroom a few minutes after the Hero enters the bathroom and is appalled to find him masturbating. When is the last time YOU burst into a bathroom that you knew held another adult? I’m not sure I would have been happier to see the adult voiding or defecating, surely the other options for a bathroom run. For this scene to work the adult must NOT lock the bathroom door, despite having a number of young children and strangers in the house AND there must be adequate time to begin the process. Furthermore, despite the clear indication that the hero wants to be alone, the heroine must disregard any requested boundaries and force her way into the bathroom. YUCK. And NO, just NO. It is one thing to be on the heels of someone and open a door slammed in your face, and an entirely different thing to wait a few minutes and follow another adult into a bathroom.

While that scene was the worst I read, I must admit I could not finish this book as neither the heroine nor the hero were particularly endearing, and being a romance, the ending is known. I also missed the memo that says that being a short woman is something that I should feel is a disadvantage. This heroine wears heels in every situation because she is “vertically challenged”. When you wear heels in a barn, you are not vertically challenged, you are mentally challenged. The author sometimes recognizes that the heroine is being dumb, and provides an explanation. Here it was because she wore tennis shoes to the gym. The author skipped why that meant that tennis shoes aren’t appropriate for a barn, but heels are.

This book bills itself as the first in a series, but the characters are part of a prior book from the author, which I must have thought was good enough to buy a second book. Unfortunately, this book is pretty awful.

Just Shoot Me Cowboy Way Book 2 edition by Becky McGraw Romance eBooks Reviews

This book started off like any other. It flowed and that is what I love. I read the second book Cowgirl Crazy first. However, all of Becky's stories take on a life of there own & I never once felt lost. Just Shoot Me brought out a lot more emotions. I love Dean Dixon almost as much as Ryan Easter. I said almost. LOL Dean is more troubled that most characters I have read before but I fell in love with him anyways. He has every right to be troubled & trust is a huge thing in my opinion for his character. He has to be tough but when Tina Montgomery walks into the picture he melts. He is labeled as Mr. Cranky Pants which I absolutely love & I am not into cherry cobbler but I will be now. LOL I think I got mad & cried more in this book. That is completely fine by me. I can't say enough about the book. Its a must read & will be a re read for me from now on. D
I love a good cowboy story and this book did not disappoint. City girl meets country boy only the country boy is a sexy cowboy. Tina needed to find the right cowboy for project she is working on for work to help her get the promotion she needs desperately. She is trying to build a stable life for her niece. She has taken on the responsibility for Laney since her sister is off all the time with whatever flavor of cowboy she has met. Tina is feeling stressed to find the perfect cowboy for her photo shoot and calls her friend Hope for support. Hope convinces Tina to come out to the ranch and bring her niece for the weekend. What Tina doesn't expect is to me Mr. Grouchy Dean. Dean is Cord's brother and one Tina didn't even know existed. Dean finds that the ranch is being invaded with people he knew nothing about and wants nothing more than to have them gone. He is still dealing with the past hurts of a failed marriage and a son he doesn't know if is truly his or not. He never expected to have such a tiny scrap of a woman wake up desires he hadn't felt in years. Together they are drawn to one another but both are trying to fight the attraction they feel. Since the ranch is having financial difficulties Dean is offered a job as a model when Tina realizes he is her cowboy. The author does a great job of telling their story and it's one filled with such emotion good and bad. There are times you just want to knock some sense into Dean. Tina makes sure she tells him what she thinks even if he's in no mood to hear it or not. I really enjoyed their story and how the secondary characters played such an important role in Dean and Tina's story. Well written and I even laughed out loud at times. I will definitely read more of this author. Highly recommend!
This is a fantastic start to a new series!!! If you haven't read Becky McGraw' s books you are definitely missing out. I love to read books that you go through so many emotions....laughing one minute then crying the next. It was great reading how Tina brings back to the living, kicking and screaming.....lol. As usual I am never disappointed by Becky' s books and looking forward to the next book in the series.
Put me down as liking this story. I thought it was very entertaining. I love a hunky hero and Mr. Cranky pant s was definitely yummy. There are enough reviews to tell what the story is about so I won't go into that.

Just want to put my vote down as liking the story. I definitely recommend it. it did have some sex scenes and a little colorful language, neither of which offended me. I liked the strong heroine. Cort's little windfall at the end was a nice touch. Also the suggestion of handling the wayward mother. Kids are wonderful but they are a heck of a lot of blood, sweat and tears!! Good move on her part. Good story, well written and I rally enjoyed it.
